Meet Katy Boatman

A judge’s touchstone should always be the Constitution. A judge should be impartial, consistent, and fair. A judge should apply the letter of the law and should never legislate from the bench. If I am honored with the position on the First Court of Appeals, I will work hard to perform those duties for the people of Texas. You have my word on that.

I learned these attributes of a judge from the best – my clerkships with Justice Dale Wainwright and Judge Jennifer Elrod, and working with Justice Scott Brister for years in the appellate practice. I am the only candidate in this race with significant experience before the courts of appeals. I grew up knowing the value of the rule of law and the Constitution, having learned it from my mother and father. I will implement those values at the First Court of Appeals.
